Hi! I'm Justin.
I'm a fantasy author, writing teacher, and lifelong story nerd.
I've spent more than twenty years studying storytelling, writing and publishing novels, and discovering just how much there is to learn about this incredible craft. Along the way, I earned a master's in creative writing from Oxford, built a career as an indie author, and developed the teaching frameworks that eventually became StoryCastle.
I've restarted manuscripts, wrestled with my own expectations, struggled to turn the stories in my imagination into the ones on the page, and spent plenty of time figuring out how writing fits into the rest of my life.
The more I've learned to approach writing as a craft I can keep growing in, rather than a test I have to pass to prove I belong, the more I've come to genuinely love the process.
